Brow wax and tint bundle service at TGS Skin Clinic in Perth

Pre-Care: Preparing for Your Brow Appointment

To ensure the best results from your brow treatment, it's important to prep your skin and brows in the days leading up to your visit. Discontinue the use of active ingredients such as Vitamin A, AHAs, and BHAs at least 3 days before your appointment. Avoid any hair removal (waxing, tweezing, or threading) for at least one week prior. The night before, gently exfoliate the brow area to remove dead skin and improve colour absorption. Please also avoid applying fake tan to the face within 72 hours of your appointment to avoid green/orange hues in dye / tint development.

If you’re currently pregnant, breastfeeding, using retinoids, or have had a reaction to brow treatments in the past, a patch test is recommended at least 24–48 hours prior. Let me know in advance so we can plan for safety and comfort.

Post-Care: Brow Lamination

In the first 24–48 hours after your brow lamination, it’s essential to keep your brows dry and protected while they settle into their new shape. Avoid water, steam, sweaty workouts, saunas, makeup, or active skincare near the brows. Try not to touch or sleep on your face.

From day three onwards, nourish your brows daily with Vitamin Lash & Brow Serum morning and night to keep them soft, healthy, and in place. If your brows get wet, gently brush them back into place while damp. Using a setting product like Alias Brow Gel helps maintain structure throughout the day. Avoid harsh exfoliants or scrubbing the brow area to preserve colour and shape.

Expect beautifully defined, fluffy brows with results lasting 6–8 weeks. Tint will gradually fade off your skin and hair, and a slight "L-shaped" regrowth can appear from week 3 — completely normal for some hair types.

Post-Care: Brow Wax & Tint

Immediately after your brow wax and tint or dye, keep the area clean and dry for at least 24 hours. Avoid makeup, sunscreen, oils, skincare, tanning products, steam, or heat inside and around the brow area. Refrain from touching or rubbing the area, and avoid sun exposure to prevent pigmentation and irritation.

You may notice tint fading from the skin after 3–5 days and lasting up to 4 weeks on the hairs. Dye can last longer — around 4–7 days on the skin and up to 7 weeks on the hairs. Longevity depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. To extend results, cleanse gently around the brows, pat dry, and use brow gels or pencils for added definition between appointments. No tweezing or trimming — let me handle your shaping!

Common Questions

Why do I sometimes get breakouts after waxing?

Waxing removes hair and exfoliates the top skin layer, which temporarily opens follicles and stimulates oil flow. If oil gets trapped in these open follicles, it may result in tiny whiteheads or breakouts. This is a natural skin response in clients with oily / combination skin. At TGS, I use calming post-wax products and recommend skipping makeup or heavy skincare for 24 hours to avoid this.

What causes skin lifting during waxing?

Skin lifting (aka a “wax burn”) can occur when the skin barrier is compromised — from retinoids, AHAs, sunburn, dry skin, or medications like Roaccutane. It appears as raw, pink, or shiny patches. Prevent it by pausing actives for 5–7 days before waxing, keeping skin hydrated, and sharing your skincare/medication use on your consultation form.

Can brow lamination damage my brows?

Not when done correctly. The lamination process softens and resets your brow hairs, then re-bonds them in place. Damage only happens if brows are overprocessed, treatments are done too frequently, or aftercare is neglected. At TGS, every lamination includes bond-repair balms, vitamin masks, and hydrating serums to support brow health.

What should I do in the first 24–48 hours after my brow lamination?

In the first 1–2 days, it’s crucial to keep your brows dry and protected while the new shape settles in. Avoid water, steam, saunas, sweaty workouts, makeup, and skincare actives on the brow area. Try not to touch your brows or sleep face-down. This ensures your lamination holds evenly and lasts longer.

What should I do after the first 48 hours of brow lamination?

After the setting phase, your brows can be styled daily. Gently brush them upward with your Vitamin Lash & Brow Serum (by MyLamination) morning and night to hydrate and strengthen the hairs. If you’ve had tint, avoid scrubbing directly over the brows to extend colour life.

Make sure you brush brows upward after wetting them to ensure they dry in your desired direction. For an easy routine and all day hold, use Alias Brow Gel (by Brow Code) to set them in place. If you had tint with avoid washing your brows — pat dry gently after cleansing to prolong stain.

What should I expect after a brow lamination treatment?

Immediately, your brows will look fuller, fluffier, and more defined. Over time you may notice:

  • Tint fading gradually as your skin naturally exfoliates.
  • Brows brushing into place more easily, though without daily hydration they may look wavy or messy.
  • Results lasting 6–8 weeks, depending on hair type, growth cycle, and at-home care.
  • If your natural hair grows downward, some “L-shaped” regrowth may appear from week 3 — completely normal.
What are adverse reactions I may experience after brow lamination?

Non-ideal reactions are uncommon, but possible. These include:

  • Redness, itching, or flaking skin persisting beyond 24 hours (possible sensitivity).
  • Dryness or brittleness if hydration is skipped.
  • Uneven texture or frizz if serum isn’t used regularly or brows were overprocessed.

If you notice swelling, pain, or ongoing irritation, stop using actives and contact me for guidance.

How do I maintain my brows between appointments?

Nourish daily with brow serum, and set with brow gel or a pencil for definition. Avoid overwashing or exfoliating the area to preserve tint or dye. Don’t tweeze — I’ll take care of your shape to ensure every brow stays in perfect proportion. Book a Brow Revival every 4–6 weeks to keep your brows full, fresh, and flawless.

When should I rebook my brow lamination?

For brow lamination, rebook every 6–8 weeks. For wax, tint, or dye, return every 4–5 weeks. Keeping a regular rhythm helps maintain your desired shape, colour, and overall brow health.
