If your skin has been feeling dull, tight or just a bit "meh" lately — an enzyme facial is probably the treatment you've been looking for without knowing it existed.
It's one of my favourite services to perform at TGS, and it's consistently one of the treatments clients come back for month after month. Not because it involves peeling or downtime. Because it works — quietly, thoroughly and without your skin needing a week to recover.
Here's everything you need to know before you book.
What is an enzyme facial?
An enzyme facial uses naturally derived enzymes — typically from papaya, pineapple or pumpkin — to gently dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells together. Unlike a scrub (which physically buffs away skin) or a chemical peel (which uses acids to resurface), enzymes work by breaking down the protein in dead skin cells while leaving healthy skin completely intact.
The result is smoother, brighter, more hydrated skin — with zero downtime and no redness.
It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, pregnancy-safe skin and anyone who's been told they can't tolerate more active treatments. And it's effective enough that clients who've been using retinol and acids for years still see a genuine difference.
What's included in the Signature Enzyme Treatment at TGS
The Signature Enzyme Treatment is a 1 hour 35 minute facial designed around your skin — not a one size fits all service.
Every appointment includes:
- Essential oil inhalations to settle you before we begin
- Gentle cleanse and light peel exfoliation
- Professional DermaFix Enzyme Masque, customised to your skin's needs on the day
- Arm and leg massage while your mask processes — because why just lay there
- Hot towel wraps for comfort and product absorption
- Vitamin and hydration infusion
- SPF application
- Personalised aftercare advice before you leave
All treatments at TGS use DermaFix professional-grade products — the same range I stock in the online shop and recommend to clients for their home routines.
The treatment is $280 for all clients and includes a full skin consultation at your first appointment.
Who is it best for?
The Signature Enzyme Treatment is particularly well suited to:
- Dull, dehydrated or tired-looking skin
- Skin that feels congested or uneven in texture
- Sensitive skin that can't tolerate stronger peels or acids
- Clients who've been using actives (retinol, AHAs) and want a nourishing reset
- Anyone wanting visible results without downtime
- Pre-event skin prep — it's one of the best "I have something important in a week" treatments
It's also a great starting point if you're new to skin treatments and not sure where to begin. The consultation included with your first appointment means we look at your skin properly and make sure this is genuinely the right treatment for you before we start.
What results can you expect?
After one treatment most clients notice:
- Smoother skin texture
- Brighter, more even tone
- Skin that feels genuinely hydrated rather than just coated in product
- Less redness or tightness if you've been using strong actives
- A calm, rested, refreshed feeling — both skin and mind
Results build over time. Monthly or six-weekly treatments consistently outperform occasional one-off appointments. If you're serious about your skin, regular enzyme treatments alongside a good home routine will move the needle more than anything else you can do.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take? 1 hour 35 minutes for the full Signature Enzyme Treatment.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Yes — it's one of the safest and most effective treatments for easily irritated or reactive skin.
How often should I book? Every 4–6 weeks is ideal for maintaining results. If you're preparing for an event, book 5–7 days beforehand to allow any initial glow to settle.
Can I have it if I'm pregnant? The Signature Enzyme Treatment isn't our standard recommendation during pregnancy — the Pregnancy Glow Facial is designed specifically for that. Get in touch and I'll help you find the right option.
What should I do before my appointment? Stop using retinol or acid-based products 3–5 days before. Avoid waxing or tanning 48 hours prior.
What about aftercare? Keep it simple for 72 hours — gentle cleanser, good hydration, SPF and nothing too active. I'll give you full aftercare advice at your appointment.
Is it customisable? Yes. The mask strength, hydration focus and treatment steps are all adjusted based on what your skin needs on the day.
